PASTOR WAYNE WRITES:
Dear Heritage Family,
One of the most theologically conservative professors I had at Columbia International University stunned the class one morning when he made this statement. We were near the end of the quarter, and in each class, he had drilled us about the importance of knowing the right doctrines and holding fast to the truth of God’s unchanging Word. Then he made this astounding statement:
“A person can know all the right doctrines, hold all the right theological positions, live by all the right biblical principles, but if his attitude toward others is wrong, he is totally wrong.”
Of course, that profound truth was just an echo of what the Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 13:
“Love never fails. Whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.”
This Sunday, we continue our sermon series, “How Should We Then Live?” The goal of these sermons is to understand how God expects His people to live in the world today, i.e., how we are to manifest our eternal salvation. The title of this sermon is “The Validation of Our Salvation—God’s call for His people to show we are Christians by our love.”
If you view the sermons on our website, www.theheritagechurch.org, you can click on the sermon title on the second page to find the sermon study guide in another format. The Sunday morning live stream starts at 10:00 AM.
We encourage you to share these study guides with others. Your role in spreading the message of God’s love and grace is not just important; it’s vital. We are eager to hear how God uses these sermons to encourage others in their spiritual growth, and we value your part in this mission. Your efforts are crucial in spreading the love and grace of God, and we deeply appreciate your contribution.

PASTOR WAYNE WRITES:
THE WATCHMEN’S REPORT
News Stories that Connect with Biblical Prophecy
By Wayne J. Edwards, July 20, 2024
My Fellow Watchmen,
At the outset, let me assure you that I am fully supportive of Donald J. Trump’s re-election as the next President of the United States. Quite frankly, he may be the only person willing and capable of doing what needs to be done to, hopefully, correct the direction of our nation, and God may have spared his life for such a time as this. If the current Marxist/Socialist administration remains in charge much longer, there will not be a United States to preserve.
However, Donald J. Trump is not our “savior,” – a clarification he has made many times. Likewise, while I was very grateful and often moved to tears by the tone of the convention, the renewed love for America, the gratefulness unto God for sparing the former President’s life, the thankfulness for those who gave their lives for our freedom, and the various prayers unto God, please, let’s not connect this patriotic-populace, Judea-Christian, conservative resurgence – for which I’m very thankful to see, with a spiritual movement.
Let’s not forget those who also spoke and sang, who were pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ+++, and those who prayed to other gods. The Republican Party is a “Big Tent,” and it is the only tent under which a faithful Christian can find even partial agreement with the stated platform and agenda. Many of us remain with this political party as “salt” and “light” – hoping against hope that our witness and testimony, as well as our vote, might preserve the few Judea-Christian values we still have.
However, true revival is not a “big tent” movement! True revival is not inspired by emotionalism, romanticism, or naïve idealism and optimism. True revival is a rediscovery of the Word of God, which leads sinners to a healthy fear of God, a genuine confession and repentance of our rebellion against God, and a new desire to live our daily lives for the glory of God. I dozed off often during the convention but I don’t remember seeing such an event.
Again, while I rejoice to see this new religious fervor on the part of our political leaders and at least their acknowledgment of their need for the support of Christians to win, let’s be very careful. Throughout history, every time Christians have aligned with political movements, we have lost ground in our assignment to get the whole Word to the whole world. I don’t put my total trust in the leaders of either political party – I put my faith in God to work through them to accomplish His will.
