HE WHO WOULD VALIANT BE

HE WHO WOULD VALIANT BE

March 12, 2021

I am sure many of my readers will relate to the stirring words of John Bunyan’s wonderful hymn of courage.

In Australia we currently have a valiant Pilgrim in 60 year old retired SAS Lt Col Riccardo Bosi heading west in a true SAS solo sortie into enemy territory recruiting Patriots for Australia One. This monkey recommends that you study what this man and his new movement stand for. Why not write in and I will send you Riccardo’s itinerary. he is currently holding one meeting a day at 7pm.

    I’ve always loved the lyrics of this hymn, ever since I was a student at an all-boys private school in Sydney, modelled on the English Great Private Schools.
    Manliness and courage were strongly upheld virtues at school. This hymn fits the “manliness and courage” mould beautifully. The spirit of this hymn should also be a clarion call to action for every committed Christian in these dark days.
    Just for interest, here are the inspirational lyrics:-
    1. Who would true valour see
    let them come hither:
    here’s one will constant be
    come wind, come weather.
    There’s no discouragement
    shall make me once relent
    my first avowed intent
    to be a pilgrim.

    2. Who so beset me round
    with dismal stories
    do but themselves confound:
    my strength the more is.
    No foes shall stay my might;
    though I with giants fight,
    but I will have the right
    to be a pilgrim.

    3. Hobgoblin nor foul fiend
    can daunt my spirit:
    I know I at the end
    shall life inherit.
    Then, fancies, flee away!
    Fear not what others say;
    I’ll labour night and day
    to be a pilgrim.
