Pastor Wayne writes:
Dear Heritage Family,
In the Book of Leviticus, God called His people to bring the first full sheaf of grain to the temple priests to be lifted up as a wave offering unto the Lord, not only to show their respect and reverence for Him, but to also show they trusted Him to provide enough crops to feed their family. This was called the Feast of Firstfruits.
In 1 Corinthians 15:20, the Apostle Paul said, “But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.” Jesus was not the first to be raised from the dead, but He was the first to conquer the effects of death in that while He was recognizable as He had been in His natural body, He was the first person to pass from the natural to the supernatural; from the temporal to the eternal, and that’s what Jesus promises those who receive Him as their Savior and Lord.
We will explain this further in our next sermon, “The Feast of Firstfruits,” based on our study of Leviticus 23 and 1 Corinthians 15.
We encourage you to view the sermon on our INTERACTIVE WEBSITE: www.theheritagechurch.org. If you click on the sermon title on the second page, you will find the sermon study guide in another format, and you can follow it on the screen as you listen. You can also “chat” with us while we are live – 10:15-11:30 AM Georgia time.

My Fellow Watchmen,
In 2005, I published a book entitled “Raising the Standard,” a Pastor’s Plea for a Return of Righteousness to the Church.” Looking at the decline in the Western church today, we can conclude that it was not a “best seller!”
However, the deterioration of doctrine and discipleship that I saw in the church at that time was accurate. In his article regarding the apostasy of today’s church, Jim Fletcher writes:
“The Church Growth Movement was a major engine in moving the apostasy train down the tracks at breakneck speed. A veneer of orthodoxy remained until about 2000 when the old guard (faithful men like Adrian Rogers) began to pass from the scene. They were replaced by Andy Stanley, Rick Warren, et al. This is a long, protracted battle to combat it. We know from Bible prophecy that apostasy will “win out” in the end, preceding the return of the Lord. Yes, we all wish revival was in the offing, but it is not…for one reason. Scripture says otherwise.”
According to another article by Deborah Laker, the dumbing down of doctrine of the late ’90s is being manifested in the unbiblical worldview of the millennials, including many who claim to be Christians. For example, 44% of those who claim to be born-again Christians do not believe that people are born into sin. They believe that “having faith matters more than what faith you have, “or that “sexual relations apart from marriage are morally acceptable.”
In my opinion, the main purpose of the “Purpose Driven Life” was to distract believers from the Person and Work of Christ and to focus on how to use God to make their lives successful. For some reason, I think Rick Warren’s Book was more successful than mine!
Please forward these selected news stories and opinion pieces to those you think might be interested. Pastor Wayne
