What a blessing these “militaristic” hymns can be…probably sung often by men and women during crisis times when faith was being tested with intense physical challenges. Too many of us believers have been lulled into a false sense of security in these days of comfort and relative ease in most western cultures. To be faced with and contemplate these “manly” lyrics doesn’t do us any harm at all….it shows us the “manliness” of Jesus and the power of His faith when under intense physical testing.
Jesus was no limp-wristed weakling, that’s for sure!!
