Does the Trump Administration Take Israel for Granted?

By Bud Hancock

I dare say that few people realize just how good, healthy and truly prosperous, life in the United States has been, and is still being, due to the amazing inventions and technological expertise of the Jewish people. Israel is likely the most advanced nation on Earth when it comes to the development of multiple technologies that improve life for anyone who accesses them. Israel’s excellence in the development of medical technology is responsible for so many devices that have absolutely revolutionized the medical treatment of many previously untreatable diseases. Surgical procedures that long had very poor outcomes have now been improved by some of the greatest discoveries and inventions of Jewish researchers, physicians and inventors. Can we definitively identify the reason for these amazing successes that have benefited the entire world?

In the news since the October 7, 2023, massacre of 1200 Jewish men, women and children by the terrorist organization known as Hamas, you can read of scathing criticism of the manner in which the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces) has responded to those horrible, cowardly attacks. The Jewish people are still being accused of being genocidal in their response to the attack that stunned the leaders of Israel as well as many other nations throughout the World. But, contrary to that criticism of the IDF, the Israeli military response has been the most controlled of any army in history. The IDF goes out of its way to prevent harm to civilians, even when it means risking the lives of Jewish soldiers.

It has been said that, as Israel goes, so goes the world. In Biblical history, and based on their obedience to God, in the centuries before the advent of Jesus Christ, the Jewish people became the most wealthy and most powerful nation on Earth, but what was the secret of their success? Their God YHWH, Who delivered them from many attempts to wipe them from the face of the Earth, deserves all the credit, not only for their amazing history of survival, but for all the success they now enjoy.

Even though God is not now dealing directly with the Jewish people, waiting for the beginning of Daniel’s seventieth week, the beginning of the seven year “Tribulation Period”, He has not yet finished His work through them, and still blesses the work of their hands and their brilliant minds. Israeli inventions have improved life for nearly every person on Earth, including those that outwardly seek the annihilation of the Jews.

The tiny nation on the shore of the Eastern Mediterranean Sea has existed for many centuries, having survived the assaults of some of the largest, most violent and evil empires in human history. Even when they strayed from God’s commandments to them, killing the many prophets that God sent to warn them of the danger of their infidelity, they still managed to survive, albeit not always in great prosperity. When they were obedient to God, especially in the days of King David, they were the most powerful military force on earth; but was that superb military strength due to their own human abilities? No, they were always under the protection of the God Who called Father Abraham to go into and settle the land of Canaan, a land inhabited by evil, idol-worshipping peoples who had long forgotten Who God was and rejected any historic teaching about Him. Thus God, having chosen Abram, (later named Abraham), determined that the beautiful land of the many tribes inhabiting Canaan would be given to the offspring of Abraham for an eternal inheritance.

Notice please, that the word “eternal” means just that: ETERNAL. No matter what would transpire, God’s mind was made up about Abraham, his offspring and the land given to them by God; in fact, He was so adamant about it that He sealed His decision with a blood covenant (Genesis 15).

Most people today have no idea of the power of a blood covenant, but in the tribal world of the Middle East, blood covenants sealed the friendship or hatred of many of the tribes toward each other. God fully understands the power of the blood covenant and He entered into one with Abraham, promising the land called Canaan, the land to which God had led Abram, as an eternal inheritance to Abraham and his offspring. Using an oath to seal the covenant, God swore by Himself, since there is no greater name by which to swear,

“Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites” Genesis 15:18-21.
Studying the lineage of the three sons of Noah, Japheth, Shem and Ham, one finds that Canaan, the son of Ham, the youngest son of Noah, was cursed by Noah when he discovered that Ham had entered his tent when he was drunken and uncovered (naked, in a disgraceful manner). The curse declared that Canaan would be the servant of Shem. The names listed in the scripture above are the offspring of Canaan that settled all over the area that God had promised to Abraham for an eternal inheritance. This was the fulfillment of Noah’s curse against Canaan and the setup for the offspring of Canaan to become “servants of Shem” (Genesis 9:25-26). In order for God’s plan to be fulfilled wherein God’s assignment of the land would be properly completed, when the Israelites left Egypt and travelled to Canaan, all the inhabitants of that area were to be displaced in favor of the descendants of Jacob.

Based on the Biblical fact that God does not change, the assignment of Canaan to be the land given to the twelve sons of Jacob, the twelve tribes of Israel, God still today will NOT relent and allow that land to be taken over, or permanently taken away, by any other people. Now, this brings into play the importance of Jerusalem in God’s eyes. Jerusalem is the only city wherein God stated plainly that “He placed His name there” (2 Chronicles 6:6).

When God had called Abram (Abraham) to leave his homeland in Ur of the Chaldees, and travel, by faith, to a land he would be shown, Abraham obeyed and because of his obedience, God accounted it to Abraham for righteousness (Genesis 15:6). Years later, when God blessed Abraham and Sarah with their own son, Isaac, God directed Abraham to go to the land of Moriah, which encompasses ALL the mountains of Jerusalem, and there build an altar and offer his only son, Isaac, as a sacrifice unto God. Again, Abraham obeyed and, taking two of his manservants and his only son, Isaac, he loaded provisions, including the wood for the burnt offering and went up into that mountain. Once there, at the exact spot on the mountain that God had shown him, Abraham bound his son Isaac and placed him on the altar, then drew out his knife to slay him. Immediately, the “angel of the Lord” (likely the preincarnate Jesus) called to Abraham from Heaven,

“And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou anything unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah Jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen. And the angel of the Lord called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time, And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice (Genesis 22:12-18).

This was a pivotal moment for all of humanity. God, having called Abraham to be the father of the people from whom His Messiah would come, the fact that Abraham obeyed, even to the willingness to sacrifice Isaac, the son of promise, God knew that His plan to offer HIS only son, using Abraham to produce the required, holy and perfect sacrifice, the Messiah, would come to fruition. In that moment, the very eternal future of mankind was decided.
Bible experts believe, as do I, that the mountain upon which Abraham was willing to sacrifice Isaac, is Mount Moriah, which is also Golgotha, upon which Jesus WAS sacrificed. This would make that place possibly the holiest spot on the planet, because there, God fulfilled His promise to Satan that the seed of the woman would bruise his head, and the promised “seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore”, would come to pass in Jesus Christ.

When I observe the actions being taken by the Trump administration, including his special envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and some of the recent statements made by Witkoff, several anonymous administration sources, and especially Ambassador Mike Huckabee, I sense some disrespect for not only the leaders of Israel, but for the land of Israel in general. Bear in mind what God has said repeatedly in His word regarding any attempt to “divide HIS land”, and especially any attempt to “come against Jerusalem”. His words indicate just how serious God is about His people, the Apple of His Eye”, and the city where He placed His Name. But, some say, if God is so serious about keeping Israel safe and “whole”, why is He not dealing with them as a nation right now? The fact that God is not dealing with them nationally right now is one of the best indicators of God’s mercy to a lost Gentile world. Remember the words of John 3:16. God is using this time to offer His mercy, love and compassion to the world, hoping for a great harvest of souls from that portion of humanity.

When that specific time period has expired, the true believers in Jesus Christ will be taken out of this world and those who refused to accept God’s offer or salvation will be left here and will be able to observe the dealings with Israel that were put on hold nearly 2000 years ago.

Meanwhile, the world continues to defy God, and based on His Genesis 12:3 promise to Abraham many centuries ago, shows how little they respect the Jewish people, and even worse, how little respect they have for the God of Abraham. For an in-depth look at the eternal importance of understanding the words God spoke to Abraham, recorded in Genesis 12:3, please see: https://chugley.blog/america-is-circling-the-drain/

I only wish I could convey just how dangerous it is for any person to puff himself up, and in a prideful, egotistical and narcissistic way, think more highly of himself than he ought to think (Romans 12:3) and stick one’s thumb in God’s eye. Now that may sound like an impossible task, God being Who and What He is, but consider how He make the determination that His eye has been touched: When anyone touches Israel, they have touched God’s eye and He will not always tolerate that kind of human activity. God is not a person Who says something and then forgets what He said. When He speaks, His words are recorded in the annals of Heaven and will remain there, alive and in force for eternity. (Hint, they will NEVER change!)
We are entering a time, indeed we are already there, when many nations’ cups of iniquity are filling on a daily basis. In the past, when a nation had reached the point in evil when they had to be dealt with, God called it, “their iniquity being full”. When that last tiny drop of iniquity enters God’s measuring cup for a particular nation, sudden destruction is usually the result.

If you read the article linked above, then you should understand the difference in the words God used in His “blessing and curse” promise to Abraham, and it should become clear how important to God is the way in which every person and every nation deals with Israel, the offspring of Abraham. The curse God put into action includes those who “disrespect Abraham. God specifically called Abraham His “friend” (Isaiah 41:8, James 2:23). Friendship with God is not totally unlike a bond of friendship between two humans: from https://www.gotquestions.org/Abraham-friend-of-God.html, the author provides a wonderful explanation of the friendship God and Abraham had. A part of that friendship was mutual respect, admiration, love and trust. God now carries over all the ramifications of his “friendship” with Abraham, including the demand for respect, to every human and every nation.

As much as the United States has befriended Israel since their return to their eternal and ancestral homeland in 1948, and as much financial aid as has been given to Israel, the current attempt to interfere with the Jewish people’s leaders by using pressure to force Israel to make certain decisions, some of which have the potential to bring God’s curse on a person and a nation, indicates an amazing level of disrespect for our ONLY Middle East ally, Israel. That blatant disrespect could easily result in a total reversal of all the benefits of our past help.

I am a firm believer in the benefits that come with obedience to God based on Gensis 12:3, as well as the consequences of showing disrespect. God has a very specific plan for Israel and He does NOT need any person, or nation, especially if they are acting solely from a political perspective, and expectant of some monetary reward, to interfere with those plans. He specifically warned the Gentile nations about “dividing His land” and He will NOT ever allow that action to come to fruition, especially in these late times. I strongly urge all our so-called American leaders to reconsider their relationship with Israel and simply allow God to be the saviour of Israel, because that honor, and the corresponding GLORY, belongs to Jehovah ONLY, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and not to ANY man. No matter the bona fides of any human leader, no matter the good he may have done in the past, God WILL NOT EVER SHARE HIS GLORY WITH ANY MAN!
To take Israel for granted, in a disrespectful manner is to take Israel’s God for granted. Be very respectful in all dealings with Israel as those dealings are just as likely to be direct dealings with God.

Blessings and Maranatha!
