Pastor Wayne Writes:
Dear Heritage Family,
“The Day of Atonement” starts at sunset Tuesday, October 4, and ends at sunset Wednesday, October 5, which also ends the “Ten Days of Awe,” which began at sunset Sunday, September 25, with the celebration of “Rosh HaShanah” the Jewish New year. “Yom Kippur” is still respected as the holiest day of the year in Judaism.
While the death of Jesus of Nazareth fulfilled the Day of Atonement for the Gentiles, not so for the Jews – there is a “Yom Kippur” yet to come for Abraham’s seed, and it will occur at the end of the Great Tribulation.
We will explain this further in our next sermon, “The Day of Atonement,” based on our study of Leviticus 23.
We encourage you to view the sermon on our INTERACTIVE WEBSITE: www.theheritagechurch.org. If you click on the sermon title on the second page, you will find the sermon study guide in another format, and you can follow it on the screen as you listen.
THANK YOU for forwarding these sermon study guides to those you think might be interested.

PASTOR WAYNE’S LATEST NEWS CLIPS
Fellow Watchmen,
According to the articles enclosed, the polarization of the world has now infected the religion of Christianity, and while the two groups overlap in a few areas, the distinction between the two is becoming very clear.
The first group could be called “the Anchored,” those of us who are anchored to the Word of God and are convinced that it is absolute truth with no mixture of error in its content and intent. Our goal is to read it, study it, understand it, follow it, and proclaim it as God’s Holy Word.
The second group could be called “the Accommodationist’, those who arewilling to adjust the Word of God to fit in with contemporary culture. Oh, they prefer to be called “progressives,” for rather than holding on to what they perceive to be ancient principles based on archaic values, they believe the Bible needs to be reinterpreted to accommodate a changing culture.
To adapt Martin Luther’s quote when challenged by the Catholic Church to compromise the Word of God, “I must subject my judgments to God’s Word, for it cannot be either safe or honest for a Christian to speak against his conscience. I cannot do otherwise. Here I stand. God help me. Amen.”
Please forward these selected articles to those you think might be interested. PW
Note: This will probably be the only news handouts for this week.
Leadership
Pastor Wayne has served as the Senior Pastor at Heritage since it began in 2010. He and Linda were “highschool sweethearts” and were married August 29, 1965. They have one Son, Steven, who is married to his wife, Vanessa, and they have two children, Elizabeth, and Omar.
After 13 years in Radio Broadcasting, Wayne entered Columbia Bible College, not to prepare for the ministry, but to learn the truths of God’s Word. While he was in the Bible College, he and Linda also led a “youth discipleship group” in a small, but growing church. In the six years they were there, the group grew from four on the first day to more than 300, which helped to establish his method of ministry as personal discipleship.
After finishing college, Pastor Wayne served as an Associate Pastor in four churches, and then as Senior Pastor in five churches. Counting the years as the “youth minister”, Pastor and Mrs. Edwards have been in the ministry for more than 40 years.
They also serve as Directors of Mature Ministries, a Discipleship Ministry, training pastors and people in the fundamentals of biblical discipleship. As a part of that discipleship process, Pastor Wayne and Mrs. Linda have lead more than 40 mission teams to Nicaragua. While their mission includes medical teams, construction teams, and food distribution, their primary goal is to equip pastors for the work of ministry.
