PASTOR WAYNE WRITES:
May 24, 2025
Dear Heritage Family and Friends,
Daniel was one of about 70 Jewish young men who were taken captive by King Nebuchadnezzar and taken to Babylon to be trained to serve in the King’s Court. These young men were the best and brightest of Israel—sons of nobles and seeds of royalty. The goal was to retrain these young men in the philosophy of Chaldeans and use their inherent intellect to advance the Babylonian Kingdom.
However, God not only allowed these young men to be taken captive, which was included in His discipline of the Israelites for their disobedience, but He sent them there to be His influence in an ungodly kingdom. Even though he never compromised his biblical convictions, Daniel’s unwavering faith became a beacon of light in the darkness, leading him to become one of only three administrators throughout the kingdom during his seventy years of captivity.
We will explain this further in our Sunday morning sermon: “Dare to be a Daniel.”

My Fellow Watchmen,
In Matthew 24:37, Jesus warned, “But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Are we at that point? Has our culture descended to the level of evil it was before the Flood? I firmly believe we have, and I urgently want to share two points to underline this view with you.
The Level of Evil in the Heart of Man
In Genesis 6:5, the Bible states, “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” According to Romans 1:18ff, the evidence of a dying civilization is sexual perversion. We are so inundated with sexually explicit content in every magazine, movie, TV show, and advertisement that we are not even embarrassed, much less ashamed, by the recent revelations of the alleged sexually perverted parties promoted by Jeffrey Epstein and Sean Combs, who uses the stage name, P. Diddy. This is not just a sign, but a grave symptom of our moral decline and the evidence that there is no way to satisfy man’s lustful thoughts.
The Level of Widespread Violence in the Land
In Genesis 6:11 and 13, we read, “The earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence. And God said unto Noah, the end of all flesh is come before me, for the earth is filled with violence through them, and behold, I will destroy them with the earth.” Moses said the earth was so violent that the only way to end it was to cleanse it with a flood. Uncontrollable violence is running rampant on the streets of every city – there aren’t enough laws and law enforcement personnel to deter it. Yet, as if that wasn’t enough, that same kind of violence has become the source of entertainment in the homes through the media. We can’t get enough of blood and guts, and the gorier, the better. However, even as barbaric and violent as our society is today, the Apostle Paul told Timothy that it’s going to get worse before it gets better.
Are we there yet? I think I smell the odor of sulfur!
