DANIEL 11:28
- “Then shall He [Antiochus IV] return into His Own Land [The Seleucid Empire] with Great Riches.
- And His [Aniochus IV’s] Heart shall be against THE HOLY COVENANT.
- And He [Antiochus IV] shall do Exploits [Damage]
- And return to His [Antiochus IV’s] Own Land.”
(Daniel 11:28)
N.B. Antiochus IV (175 B.C.E. – 164 B.C.E.)
This return of Antiochus IV is recorded in The First Book of The Maccabees, Chapter One, Verses 20 – 28.
In The Year 169 B.C.E. , after The Conquest of Egypt, Antiochus IV marched with a great Army against The Land of Israel, and The City of Jerusalem.
In His arrogance, Antiochus IV entered The Temple and took away:
- The Golden Altar of Incense
- The Seven-Branched Lampstand
- The Table For The Shewbread
- The Cups
- The Bowls
- The Curtain
- And The Crowns [See Zechariah 6:9 -15]
Antiochus IV also stripped all the gold from The Entrance of The Temple, and carried off the Silver, and The Gold, and Everything Else of Value, including all The Treasures That He Could Find Stored There.
He also murdered many people and boasted arrogantly about It.
There was Great Mourning in The land Of Israel:
“Rulers and Leaders groaned in Sorrow,
Young Men and Young Women grew Weak,
Every Bridegroom sang A Funeral Song,
And Every Bride sat mourning in Her Chamber.
All The People of Israel were clothed with Shame,
And Our Land tremble for Them.”
Antiochus IV had already plundered Egypt but Covetousness has no End.
THE LORD GOD OF THE HEBREWS, THE LORD OF THE TEMPLE IN JERUSALEM, is RIGHTEOUS. HE EVEN SPARETH NOT HIS BELOVED SON, SO GREAT IS HIS LOVE:
