CRY HAVOC! Let slip the dogs of War!
Everywhere I look around the news today it seems the Dogs of War are about to be unleashed once more. There are so many swirling theories, as someone said “The first casualty in war is Truth”. These Russian missile launchers look menacing, ready for action in Syria.
I thought these comments from Bob Livingstone were insightful:
The second dimension of modern warfare is seductively esoteric. I will describe it. It goes directly to the psychic:
- It is almost totally invisible to the natural eye.
- It is almost totally invisible to the human spirit.
- It cannot be measured and calculated by the human I.Q. because it operates above the threshold of intelligence.
- At the same time, it suppresses the human intellect.
- It is not a phenomenon that the natural mind can confront and deal with.
- But it can be discerned by those prolific readers with background information.
But then who can better comment on a provoked attack than the Bard himself when he has Mark Anthony kneel beside the body of Caesar and proclaim:
All pity choked with custom of fell deeds:
And Caesar’s spirit, ranging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch’s voice
Cry ‘Havoc,’ and “let slip the dogs of war”….
And Caesar’s spirit, ranging for revenge,
With Ate by his side come hot from hell,
Shall in these confines with a monarch’s voice
Cry ‘Havoc,’ and “let slip the dogs of war”….
Gibber! Gibber!

The description of that “second dimension of modern warfare” sounds very much like the old-fashioned term “cold war”. Whichever dimension of war we’re in, it’s scary how our global village is like a vulnerable child with the massive firepower of several nations able to annihilate anything…anywhere…within the hour. As the Good Book says…”Come, Lord Jesus!”
Very good point Paul, it sure is like giving a child a box of matches in a petrol dump. I think my zoo is currently the best option for me. Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
