CORY – END OF STORY?
I was astonished to hear Cory Bernardi stating on Television that he was quitting Parliament. Not long ago Cory pulled the plug on the party he founded, Australian Conservatives, after it bombed at the polls. Cory stated that this was mainly due to the departure of Malcolm Turnbull, the left wing socialist leaning Prime Minister, who knifed Tony Abbott, was himself overthrown. This meant that the left wing threat was not as critical to address. Be that as it may, it does not inspire this Chimp to fully “evolve” any time soon and try to join such an unsatisfactory, and merciless, circus.
I remember a wife, in one of Shakespeare’s plays, imploring her husband “to screw his courage to the sticking post” – albeit in rather inauspicious circumstances. However it made me wonder why 50 year old Cory, could blandly state “he is in a comfortable and happy place”. I reckon I would be too, if I had been the recipient of a substantial Parliamentary salary for many years. Surely there is much battling, with great courage, yet to be done to ensure that Australia survives the future. Consider Paris and Energy, to name but two critical issues.
Cory’s ancestors hail from the land of Ferrari’s, Chianti, Pizzas and Sophia Loren, which can’t be all bad. Perhaps he will surprise us with another major move and come out fighting for the right? The zoo hopes so, but we do wonder what happened to the old “I remain, Sir, your Obedient Servant” attitude that prevailed in the hallowed walls of, say, the Menzies Government. Deary me, I must be getting old.

Cory will announce his return to the Liberals federally in the New Year. That office, car , staff and unlimited travel is way too appealing to just leave it all behind. Then there is the enormous pension to consider? I fancy him as PM one day given that Australia will remain out of Chinese hands long enough to allow such a thing?
What an incredibly great Blog this is!! I start the day with it and it gives me the fortitude to face the day knowing I have others around me who have a functioning brain! They are a fast receding brand of humans.
Sir Michael McCarthy
