Instead, it was an abomination. It was supposed to be a festivity. Instead, it was blasphemy. The opening ceremony was described as “wet, wild, and weird”—and certainly it was all of that. It was dark, macabre, and outrageously sacrilegious. The entire opening ceremony was characterized as “one long drag show.” Drag queens did a parody of The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci with a woman sitting in the middle with a halo over her head, intended to represent Jesus surrounded by his disciples. It’s hard to imagine something more blasphemous than that. People in drag and transgenders filled the entire celebration—or what was intended to be a celebration. Elon Musk, who certainly is no friend of Christianity, weighed in and said the parody was “extremely disrespectful to Christians.” It was an open mocking of the Lord’s Supper. The whole celebration was very disturbing. There was lots of fire and a bloody display of beheaded Marie Antoinettes singing, of course, referring back to the French Revolution. Notably, the scene also featured a woman riding a white metallic horse across the river of seine (pronounced “sin” in English), donning the flag of the International Olympic Committee. They claimed the display was “representative of the Olympic spirit.” The horse passed under successive bridges as dove wings were unfurled, supposedly to symbolize a message of peace.
