Many religions view the Sermon on the Mount as a list of ethical standards by which Christians should live. In that regard, they claim that poverty in itself is a virtue, and the absence of material possessions or the lack of financial resources reveals one’s faith in God. Some even take a vow of poverty to prove their faith and their trust in God’s provision.
However, Jesus used the term “poor in spirit” to describe those who are utterly destitute and completely helpless to provide their own way into the Kingdom of God. In Jesus’ day, a person in such physical need would be so ashamed of his position in life he would cover his face while he held out his hand and begged for help.
Jesus said this describes those who will be allowed into His kingdom; those so poor in spiritual things they beg God for His mercy and grace. We will explain this further in our next sermon in this series – “Behold the King: Life in the Kingdom of God # 3.

If you want a glimpse into the character of the Antichrist, look no further than Vladimir Putin. He is demon-possessed. Even those who have known him for many years say he has transformed into the personification of evil, and the enclosed news stories will confirm their evaluation. We are on the verge of the Gog-Magog war, and should Putin succeed in Ukraine, he will set his sights on the wealth of Israel.
Meanwhile, back at home, while the Ukrainian soldiers fight for their freedom, the U.S. Army says it welcomes the “transgendered” into the ranks. With our military forces already weakened by those who took the Covid-19 vaccine, and the dismissal of those who would not take it, this step may very well be the straw that broke the camel’s back.
While all the major denominations are in decline, and the majority of seasoned pastors are resigning or retiring, a new company called EntrePastor is offering to train young men to “serve God as a church pastor, but to think, act and thrive as a prosperous entrepreneur.” In other words, future pastors will serve more like CEOs than shepherds, and future churches will operate as a business rather than the Body of Christ.
