AMERICANS ARE GREEDY OR GENEROUS?
Yesterday, I continued my study with my keeper and others on the documentary ‘The Twelve Biggest Lies’.
Lie No Seven was: ‘Americans are Greedy and Self-Centred.’
An irony of ironies regarding the country which:
- saved Europe and the United Kingdom from the Nazis
- saved the Pacific from the Japanese
- is responsible for giving a new life to millions of immigrants
- won the Cold War
- gives generously to humanitarian causes
The question is why is U.S.A. so villified? Why does this statement even have currency?
Gibber! Gibber!
The Grateful and Thoughtful Chimpanzee
P.S. Generalizations are fraught with complications. How does one actually measure charitable giving?

I think the USA has enjoyed prosperity and strength over generations now because of their Christian foundation….adherence to Biblical values and “trust in God” has given that nation a moral unity, sense of justice and also power. Maybe because of their “success” financially and militarily, other nations look on the US with envy and jealousy. It’s pretty safe to conclude that some countries want to take focus off their own shortcomings by making the US a scapegoat for world problems.
Exactly what my monkey musings lead me to believe Paul! Gibber! Gibber! Chugley
