America is Circling the Drain; Here’s Why

I have heard many Christian preachers and teachers describe the words of God given to Abraham in Genesis 12:1-3 as a “like blessing for blessing” and a “like curse for curse” that would be given to the Gentile nations and peoples depending on how they treat the offspring of Abraham. While I agree with that assessment of the scriptures, I believe their interpretation of God’s words to be over-simplified, and less strong than God intended them to be.

Any student of God’s word can determine for themselves whether I am right or wrong. Simply find a good concordance (I recommend the “Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible”), and look up every word of those scriptures. The word “bless” used twice in verse three is exactly the same Hebrew word, (Strong’s 1288), but the word “curse”, used to define what God will do (Strong’s 779), used in the “curse” him that “curseth” thee) is quite different from the word “curseth” (Strong’s 7043) in the same scripture. Let’s take a closer look at the differences.

Strong’s 7043 (curseth) is the Hebrew word “qalal” (pronounced kaw-lal’) and it means “to make light of, to bring into contempt, to disrespect. The word contempt is defined as:

1. The feeling or attitude of regarding someone or something as inferior, base, or worthless; scorn.
2. The state of being despised or dishonored.
3. Open disrespect or willful disobedience of the authority of a court of law or legislative body.

Strong’s 779 is the Hebrew word “arar”, (pronounced aw-rar’) and it means to execrate, to bitterly curse.

The word execrate is defined as “to curse or declare to be evil or anathema or threaten with divine punishment”.

Anathema is defined as: a formal ecclesiastical ban, curse or excommunication; a vehement denunciation, a curse; one that is damned,

In short, a person or a nation that curses Israel (Strong’s 7043, makes light of, regards as inferior, base or worthless) is guilty of scorning the offspring of Abraham. A simpler way of saying this to to “disrespect them”. This is what God hears when any person, or any nation “curses” the Jewish people; it is His divine right to execrate, bitterly curse, declare to be evil or anathema and threaten with divine punishment, those who treat Abraham’s offspring with disrespect or scorn.

I have long feared that many Christians have no idea what dangerous ground they are treading on when they publicly denounce the Jewish people. To fully understand how dangerous their actions are, they must understand WHY God considers the Jewish people so important to HIM. He chose them for His own reasons to fulfill His plan; and His word to, for and about them is FINAL. Therefore He declared them to be “The Apple of His Eye”, not because they are so perfect or adorable, but because God placed the integrity of His Word in His declarations regarding Israel and He has always maintained that, “I am watching over my word to perform it” (Jeremiah 1:12 ESV).

So, when anyone, especially those who declare themselves to be “Christlike”, openly scorn Israel, disrespect Abraham’s offspring and even worse, instead of being a true ally, they align themselves and their nation with Israel’s haters when they are in a desperate fight for survival against 300 million enemies surrounding them, and make it difficult to win that fight, GOD TAKES NOTICE.

In the same way that a man would not like anyone touching the most sensitive part of his eye, so God abhors all acts of touching His chosen people. God has a reputation for dealing with the Israel’s enemies as they have dealt with Israel; based on His words of Genesis 12:3, it could easily be stated thus: “As you have done to Israel, so will I certainly do to you and much, much worse”.

The multitude of covert actions of the United States government in the past fifty years are indirectly against the Jewish people and have been responsible for many Jewish deaths, lost to terrorists who have been monetarily supported by both the U.S. government and other NGOs (Non-Government Organizations).

For the most part, these actions were done behind the scenes without any open affirmation of them. Even though the nations of the World may not consider these U.S. actions treasonous on the part of the United States as an ally of Israel, God certainly sees them as acts of betrayal toward the Jewish people.

Some of the most egregious acts toward the nation of Israel have had similar results regarding the land that God gave to Abraham and his descendants for an eternal inheritance. The most central part of that land is Judea and Samaria, and due to the meddling of the American government and its so-called leaders, most of the World sees the presence of the Jewish people there as “occupiers” of the land they say is owned by Israel’s enemies. So-called International Courts openly condemn Israel for daring to settle on their own land and threaten to arrest and try the leaders of Israel. I have yet to see one American political leader, or Christian leader publicly and loudly condemn these actions against Israel; rather they pressure Israel’s leaders to accept the accusations and cede their land to their enemies.

Now consider the seriously evil conduct of the U.S. toward Israel, with many thousands of Jews being killed by U.S.-funded terrorists, and much of the sacred land of Israel, the land given to them for eternity, being overrun by these terrorists, and ask if some of the terrible events now happening TO America could be directly connected to the acts done BY America against Israel? Consider that while our nation is being overrun by millions upon millions of ILLEGAL ALIENS from all over the world who are NOT U.S. citizens and who have no plan to assimilate into U.S. society, but rather are haters of America and have announced their plans to destroy us, the U.S. government has made it possible for millions of illegal aliens (non-Jewish) people to flood into the land of Israel and kill Jewish citizens. And there is the question of the areas of Judea and Samaria, the very heartland of Israel, being given over to the enemies of Israel. The heartland of the United States is the Midwest, long considered to be the breadbasket of America. But now, hundreds of thousands of acres of the most fertile land in our nation is owned by haters of our nation, people who have no regard for our citizens, our culture, our freedoms or our God.

Another consideration is that the U.S. military, at one time the greatest and most feared and respected on the planet, with nearly unlimited resources in weapons and ammunition at its disposal, is now a military that is in total disarray, with little to no true leadership, no one to set a proper direction for the military of a world superpower. As the world leaders mock and smear the leader of Israel, so NOW the leaders of the world’s nations laugh at the leaders of the United States, and all fear and respect for them and our military has dissipated.

As the current Middle East war between Israel and the proxies of Iran takes a huge financial toll on the tiny nation of Israel, so the financial cost to the U.S. to underwrite its proxy war supporting Ukraine against Russia has increased the U.S. national debt by trillions of dollars. The economy of the U.S. is now spiraling downward with thousands of businesses closing across the nation and hundreds of thousands of American workers losing their jobs, with a complete meltdown of our financial structure nearly upon us, and it appears this is NOT just a transient event, but one with no end in sight.

God has said in His word, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12). The opposite of that statement is also true: “Cursed is the nation whose God is NOT the Lord”. The nation once considered the greatest and MOST BLESSED by God has now become the laughingstock of the entire world. Anyone who cannot see this as a fact is not looking hard enough, or simply refuses to see it.

Considering the premise from the beginning of this article, that Genesis 12:3 is not simply a like blessing or like curse, it can be seen from the present status of the United States, the terrible predicament we are in, that the cursing that our nation has done toward Israel has accomplished two things:

• The curses that have been brought to bear on this nation are nearly identical to, and in some cases, far worse than what we have done to Israel, and
• The great blessings that were once ours when the United States was considered a Godly nation, when the Lord was considered to be our God, have all but vanished.

The Church, the Body of Christ, was given the command, no, the great privilege of presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ to the entire world. The proper handling of that privilege was what brought the untold blessings to America. As long as the Church was the salt of the Earth and a Light to the dark world, our nation rose above all other nations in the history of the World. At this present time, with our own government working against Israel, and that work now becoming more open, we are witnessing the words of God in Genesis 12:3 becoming our national epitaph.

Politics has proven, once and for all time, that there is no power in that foul process to save a nation from itself. Our actions against the Apple of God’s Eye have put the United States in a very precarious place. At this very moment, we are standing in what appears to be the early ashes of a failing nation, one blindly stumbling along in the darkness with no light, no direction and not even enough salt to preserve one poor soul. Unless the Church rises once again and loudly speaks what God has said in Genesis 12:3, and demands the respect due to them be given to the offspring of Abraham, and once again assumes the role of being salt and light, America will continue circling the drain, and there is not one man who can stop it. Unless God once again is made Lord over our nation, the future of America indeed appears to be very bleak.
